Only 12 lucky people will be allowed
access to this exclusive 2-Day Event

You'll walk away with a pristine audio book demo
(directed in part by a Grammy Award winning Audio Book producer!!!) and a precise blueprint for becoming
a successful audio book narrator

From: Susan Berkley, President, The Great Voice Company
Date: January 6th, 2007
Subject: Re: Your exclusive invitation to The Audio Book Masters Class

Dear Great Voice,
According to the New York Times, there's a new book published in the United States every half an hour. And that's just fiction! RR Bowker, the company that compiles the Books in Print database in the USA, has calculated that no fewer than 175,000 new titles were published in 2003. That's one book roughly every 20 seconds. Overall, there are about 5.6 million books in print

Not all these books will make it to audio of course, but according to a recently published report from the Audio Publishing Association (9/12/06) nearly 25% of the US population is listening to audio books. The same association reported that audio book sales topped $871 million in 2005, up 4.7 % from the previous year.

And there's a new trend in recorded books that means even greater opportunity for voice talent like you. What is it? Digital books.

More and more books are being recorded and released exclusively in downloadable format. They never make it to CD, but instead are downloaded directly into iPods off of internet sites like Audible.com.

The Audio Publishers Association says downloadable books accounted for 9 percent of audio books in 2005, up 50% from the previous year. Audible.com sells these books through iTunes and Amazon. There are over 345,000 subscribers (up 54% in 2006) all hungry for the latest digital books. Because of lower production costs, titles that wouldn't have made it to audio in the past are now being recorded and released digitally. And that means even more opportunity for you!

Audio Books is the fastest growing market in voice-over.
Demand for your talent has never been greater.

How would you like to gain access to a voice-over opportunity where you are the only one considered for the job? All of the stress of competition and auditions is completely eliminated because you are the only one they can choose. It's like shooting fish in a barrel. You can't miss. Sound like a dream? Well, it's completely possible in audio books.

Fact is, publishers are standing by, eager to hear you pitch them projects where you record their books. That's right. You'll pitch the project, bid the job and hire yourself! No auditions. No competition. Or, come in as "hired gun" talent for producers who work with audio publishers.

Announcing:
The Audiobook Master Event...

    Saturday and Sunday, JULY 14th and 15th, 10am - 6pm, 2007, Edge Studios, 307 7th Ave, Suite 1007, New York City

Learn everything you need to know about Audio Books AND record your audio book demo in one exciting weekend.

With master instructors:

PATRICK FRALEY: Producer, teacher, and performer of audiobooks for 20 years. Multi "Audie" Award Recipient (the "Oscar" of Audiobooks). Patrick's production and performance of "Huck Finn" is heralded as "The best of this evergreen ever." (People Magazine)

HILLARY HUBER: Recently, Hillary Huber landed a 6 audiobook deal with an audiobook publisher. No agent, just a phone call. Hillary produces, directs and performs audiobooks. She records her books ALONE in her very modest home studio. She will teach, direct, and yield valuable insight into reading audiobooks. The last book she read "A Field of Darkness," is enjoying rave reviews.

COMMENTS FROM A PRODUCER WHO WORKED WITH A SEMINAR GRADUATE:
"Thanks for all you're doing to help Tamra hone her instrument... I directed her the last two days in an audiobook and she was AWESOME. I credit you two."
-- Jim Meskimen, Producer, Actor, Los Angeles

Plus Special Guest:

Barbara Rosenblat: Billboard Magazine has said, "Among devoted Audiobooks fans, Barbara Rosenblat is spoken of with the same affection and reverence that the music industry reserves for Frank Sinatra and the Beatles." Apart from being cited as a 'Golden Voice' by AudioFile Magazine, Barbara earned a further distinction in 2000 by being named one of the 'Voices of the Century' by the same publication. Barbara has recorded more than 150 unabridged titles for Harper Audio, Penguin Audio, Random House Audio, Time Warner Audio and DH Audio.

I don't know if you realize how amazing this is. Pat Fraley has arranged for you to get quality time with the top audio book narrator in the country! Barbara is a lovely woman and she has many years of real world, in-the-trenches experience to share. Because there will be only 12 people in this workshop, she'll be all yours to answer questions and provide support, guidance and encouragement. It's like having a super-star as your personal mentor.

Frankly, this exclusive access to Barbara is more than worth the price of admission. But we know you'll want to try it yourself. So Pat and Hillary will get you up to the mic in the recording studio and guide you through the special techniques for audio book performance.

There are 8 Key Types of Audio books

Classic Fiction
Self Help
Business
Children's books
Young adult
Romance
Non-fiction
New fiction

In fact, right now I'm listening to a fascinating business book called "The Long Tail" written by the editor of Wired Magazine. Because of this workshop, I'm paying special attention to the narrator's style. He's relaxed and personable, moving along at a brisk pace. He's pleasant, but completely "transparent"-supporting the written word, but never getting in the way.

You can be doing these high profile non-fiction jobs, too!

Of course fiction books require some special techniques and you'll learn them here. There will be tips on:

The "just enough" theory of accents and dialects: how even a beginner can sound convincing

Doing characters of the opposite sex

Maintaining character consistency

Keeping your characters separate when they are in a dialogue

Finding your "best voice" for the narrator

How to show age range: from kids to senior citizens, Pat and Hillary will teach you how to do them all.

And of course, you'll learn how to maintain vocal stamina and not lose your voice during extended recording sessions.

I just want to repeat here that Pat Fraley is without a doubt the most skilled and respected teacher of characters and dialects in the country, and probably in the world. He has personally voiced over 4,000 cartoons and is guy that all the Hollywood actors go to when they want to perfect their character voices for high paying animated features. Heck, he's Nancy Cartwright's (Bart Simpson's) private voice coach. Best of all, you'll practically have Pat all to yourself in this exclusive event.

Let's face it, the real reason you come to a weekend like this is for personal guidance. And you'll get lots of it from Pat, Hillary, and special guest Barbara Rosenblatt. By the end of the weekend, you'll know exactly where you best fit in this wide open market. That's right! Unlike other voice-over markets which can be crowded and highly competitive, books on tape offers a fantastic opportunity for all types of voice talent who want to get to work now. And speaking of getting to work…

Both Pat and Hillary are skilled business people when it comes to their audio book careers. They'll make sure you know exactly what to do to bring your talents and abilities into the marketplace.

Your event workbook includes information on:

Who to contact for work

How to get hired

How to bid a job so you actually make good money doing what you love…acting with your voice!

     Plus, you'll learn…

How to create simple, effective 'pitch packages' so that you can suggest titles to read to audiobook publishers. Presenting yourself as both talent and producer for multi-book deals is where the real opportunity lies in books on tape. Remember, there are over 175,000 books published every year, not to mention millions of beloved, back list classics which were never recorded. Pat and Hillary will show you exactly how to approach publishers with irresistible opportunities to put their books on tape. As producer and talent, you'll earn even more money and -most important-you'll hire yourself! No competition! Your success is virtually assured.

Most important of all, The Audio Book Master Event includes your recorded Audio Book Demo

Let's face it. Your demo is the keystone of a successful voice-over career. Unfortunately, so many talents get it all wrong, wasting money and valuable time. Some actors even embarrass themselves, their demos are so bad. But not you. Pat and Hillary will direct you as you record three book excerpts, putting your best foot forward in pristine professional quality sound. Your work is mastered and sent to you within days. With this demo and the business building techniques you learn in your workshop, you'll be well on your way to becoming a successful audio-book narrator!

"A WONDERFUL LEARNING EXPERIENCE"
"Thank you again for a wonderful learning experience I enjoyed every second. Both of you have such giving natures and the time you took with me during the recording sessions was invaluable. I can't wait to take more of your classes so I can tap into the talent and experience you have to offer."
- Pamela Chollet, Overland Park, Kansas

Award Winning Actress Praises This Workshop
"Pat Fraley is a voice-over genius in front of and behind the microphone. His classes will teach you all the practical skills you will need to know to make it in the voice-over world. Talented, resourceful and connected, Pat brings his expertise and a whole lot of fun to his classes, as well as the best guest artists, Hillary Huber to be exact. This is a class you can't afford not to take".
-- Lisa Renee Pitts, Hollywood, CA, Actress and Award winning audio book artist of 4 novels under the direction of Pat Fraley and Hillary Huber.

"I CANT BELIEVE I GET PAID TO DO WORK I LOVE!"
"The Audiobook Workshop was incredible. You are always so generous and I am truly grateful. I still cannot believe that I can get paid to do "work" that I love do."
-- Kathy Meagher, Voice Talent, San Diego

"Signed by a publisher for an ongoing series of books"
"The Audiobook Master Class presented by Pat Fraley was everything I hoped it would be and more. It was really 3 master classes in one. Having now attended three training events with Pat Fraley, I strongly recommend you jump at your next chance to take one of his classes. The price of the event was worth every penny based what I learned. I've just been signed by an audiobook publisher for an on-going series of books (science fiction, one of my personal favorite genres) and I completed my first project for them last night.
-- Bob Souer, Voice Over Talent, Charlotte, NC

"I'm doing audio books thanks to Pat"
"Fraley's class was amazing! He covered everything from performance skills, specific to audio books, to the much needed area of the "business of audio books". I came away with all, and I mean all, the important information I needed to pursue the great area of audio books, which I am doing, thanks to Pat Fraley. My hat's off to you Pat!"
-- Lisa Lindsley, San Fancisco, CA

"Prepared me to perform and produce two books"
"Pat was a guest speaker at my first voice workshop 21 years ago. In my two decades in this business, I have found him to be an excellent teacher......I still study with him! His audiobook workshop was very beneficial to me-it prepared me to perform on and produce two audiobooks which will be released soon. Very highly recommended-Pat is simply the best."
-Miles Neff, Los Angeles, CA

"Above and beyond what I expected"
"What can I say about Pat Fraley's Workshop besides "Wow!" At least that's the feeling I had at the end of the day and even a few days after. The direction, the professional atmosphere, the incredible amount of useful information as well as resources regarding the Audio Book World given to us...Mamma Mia!! There is STILL continuous support from Pat even "after" I've finished the workshop...The Audio Book Workshop was above and beyond what I expected. Lucky me!!"
-- Robin Eller, Los Angeles, CA

Atlanta based workshop graduate Karen Commins records audio books in her home studio

"Pat and Hillary give you what you really need to know"
"Pat and Hilary cut through all the noise and give you what you really need to know. They pull in the heavy hitters in the industry to level with us newbies and field question after question with patience and individual attention. Thanks Pat and Hilary for a priceless experience!"
-- David Boyll, Voice Actor, San Francisco

"Your information on audiobooks was mind opening, indeed. Thanks so much."
-- Roger Scott, Teacher and Voice Talent, Los Angeles

"Everything I hoped it would be and more"
"The Audiobook Event was everything I hoped it would be and more. Together you weave a very satisfying experience and I felt very fulfilled by days end. Having three directors is especially beneficial and each of you fed me in a direction I hadn't quite planned. Thanks for all you do and your generosity of spirit in a world where it is most needed."
-- Martha Kahn, Voice Over Talent, San Diego, Ca

Now, I have to let you in on some behind-the-scenes scuttlebutt between Pat, Hillary and me. You see, Pat's a great guy, but he's missing the "shopping gene." Not so Hillary and me. The two of us know great value when we see it. We know when something's too expensive and we know when it's a great deal. So when Pat came to us and told us he wanted to charge only $1995 for the Audiobook Master Event-INCLUDING your demo, we laughed in his face. That's like selling a delicious, Sex-In-The-City pair of designer Jimmy Choo shoes at Wal-Mart prices!

Many talents pay $1995 JUST for a demo. Heck, I know at least one demo producer who charges $3,000 or more.

In the Audio Book Master Event you not only get your demo, you also get incredible business building information, personal coaching from Pat and Hilary AND access to audio book superstar Barbara Rosenblat.
