Great Voice Alumni Celebrates 5 Years of Success

     Can't believe next June marks five years since I first contacted you about voiceover work. As I remember, I took your teleclass course first and then came to NYC for you boot camp later that year. We then did six months together on an individual basis before I made my demo and started marketing myself in 2003.

     Things continue to go well. I am doing quite a variety of commercial media work (some of which has been national in nature) along with a number of corporate narrations and have done two documentaries that have had regional television coverage. As you know, I really enjoy long read projects and am trying to focus on that type of work a little more in 2007.

     What a great lesson! And what a wake-up call! I have clients too, that I've worked with for years, and even though I'm always good about sending nice, unique, thank you cards after the job, sending post cards, or just emailing them from time to time to say hi..... A whole series of online training presentations for their 2008 luxury sedan with a monster script about every conceivable aspect of the car.      Also, being a German high-performance car company an' all....I went out on a limb and decided to quote them a rather high rate for my services. And they didn't bat an eyelid! Silver Inner Circle Member Books TV Shows, radio spots and Movies and is working ‘Like Crazy!’

     “Sorry if I keep bugging you guys, but I just HAD to tell you this news!! I just got back from a 2 day shoot in NJ on a series called “The Hacking Chronicles.” I won the part of “the lawyer” for this series that is being produced by AT&T after auditioning in NYC. I was told the series would be running on ATT’s Internet Security Network on AT&T’s website.

     The lawyer was to appear in episode 2 and have 4 lines. When I arrived for the shoot on Thursday, I was pleasantly surprised to see a full production crew and equipment like you would see at a feature film and HD Cameras. I was also surprised to see that the shoot took place at the AT&T headquarters building in NJ. As I was walking in, the producer met me at the door. He informed me that they had decided to write my character into the plot of the show as a “bad guy” and they upgraded me to a SERIES REGULAR and my character will be appearing in future episodes!!

     On Thursday we shot a scene with a special effects technician where “my client” was shot outside of the “FBI” office. On Friday, they did a shoot and blew up a car. Today, we did my main scene and I was even allowed to re-write the script to make the scene more realistic in a legal sense. They used a “Steady-Cam” all day today in filming. In asking the various crew members, I found out that AT&T is spending $60,000 an EPISODE to do this series. This sounded fishy to me as I could not believe they are going to spend that kind of money just to put this up on the Internet. Well, turns out, they are actually producing this series to run on the new AT&T cable network that will be launched this summer!!! They said they may also turn the series into a feature film, or end up selling it to another network!!!

     As I was leaving, the director told me that my performance “was very real” and that “people are going to be looking for you more in future episodes.” I swear my car was floating on air on the drive home!!!

     Also on the voice over front, I am currently recording 3 radio spots for Zales Jewelers, which should be airing soon.

Got my first booking! Studio time at the Bootcamp was worth the price of admission!!

     "I haven’t had a whole lot new to tell all of you—until now. I finally got my first booking. I happened to make a follow-up call to a production company that had a project working right then, and they needed someone. They played my demo for the client, and they liked it. I went to the studio (which happened to be ten minutes from my office) during my lunch hour, water bottle and apple slices in hand, and knocked out a page and a half of corporate real estate copy. It was cool.

     By itself, the studio time we got at boot camp was worth the price of admission. I knew what to expect and what to do when I got there. I even remembered not to touch the microphone. What’s more, the producer paid on the spot. This has further energized me to make those cold calls.

     I encourage those of you who are serious about this to keep with it and work Susan’s method. You will see results.  Good luck to you all—persistence pays off. Please let me know how you are doing.

“Hear this Bootcamp Grad On The New Pokemon!”

     "This fall on Cartoon Network, join Ash, Pikachu, Brock, May and Max as they journey across the Battle Frontier in the 6th season of Pokemon!! I voice May, one of the traveling companions of Ash and sister to Max.

     I also voice Jessie, the sole female member of the "Team Rocket" trio who are always trying to capture Pikachu and any other Pokemon they can get their hands on.

     I am also the voice of Nurse Joy and a few Pokemon here and there, Cacnea, Chimecho, Raltz, Flaafy and Mudkip.

     Before season 9 of Pokemon starts, though, Cartoon Network will also be showing a Pokemon special called "Mystery Dungeon." I play the voice of Chikarita, one of the members of Team Go-Getters who help Pokemon out of trouble.
