How to increase the value of every VO job you do

I can’t remember the last time I ate at McDonald’s.

I admit it. I am a food snob. And frankly, I would rather go hungry than bite into a Big Mac.

In my kitchen you will find a collection of fine imported olive oils, a bottle of pomegranate molasses and artisan breads for my discerning palate.

But I really admire McDonalds for their marketing.

They are marketing masters and believe it or not, there is one simple thing they do with each sale that every voice over artist should copy right away.

It’s easy, ethical and it won’t cost you a dime. But will drastically increase the value of every voice over job you do.

  1. One of my current corporate customers has a new requirement. They want all their audio broken into individual MP3 files by PowerPoint deck slide. In addition, the software they’re using to develop the video imposes a limit of 20 seconds per slide, so that the audio has to be less than 18 seconds. Because I’m also a writer, he has authorized me to tweak the scripts to make this work. I get an extra charge for the additional work to do all this, which just about doubles the total. Not bad! As you said, if you just throw this in for free, you’re walking away from legitimate money.
