How to practice to grow your voice over business

How to practice to grow your voice over business

Last weekend I went to Birdland, a top NY jazz club, to watch a show by a friend of mine, the singer Alexis Cole. (

She and her trio knocked it out of the park and as she sang and scatted her heart out, I was struck by how hard musicians work to perfect their craft. The countless hours of practice, the focus, the pure unadulterated love of the music.

I remember when she left her day job to grow her career. It wasn’t easy, but now here she is– confident and glowing, at the top of her game.

I love to study greatness because as they say, success leaves tracks.

And one of the things that keeps coming up again and again when I study successful people is the power of habit, good habits. Habits build momentum and they are a powerful force you can harness on your way to the top.

So how are your habits?

Early to bed and lots of veggies or cigarettes and chocolate milk?

In this week’s Inside Voice Over video training blog I explore how you can put the power of habit to work in your voice over career so you can enjoy the magic of momentum and accelerate the learning curve.

We all need a little help, right?

“I participated in one of The Great Voice Company’s weekend Voiceover Boot Camps at the end of 2016. The experience was fantastic. It persuaded me that this voiceover dream that I’ve wondered about for so many years could indeed become a reality.. You emerge with a clear road map for advancing your voiceover career. 1. Susan, Thank-you. You provide such great insights in each post,
and you so freely share your knowledge – it’s appreciated.
I, too, recently read the Power of Habit…. knowing what to do
and actually doing it are two very different things! But if we
can’t make 15min ea day to do something we profess to want,
maybe we should re-examine what we really want. Thanks again.
