When we arrived at the inn in Sedona, Arizona, our expectations were managed from the start.
A brass plaque on the door informed us that check in was between 3-6 PM. We were to ring the bell only once. If there was a delay, we were to wait patiently because the inn keeper was showing another guest to their room.
In our room, we were shown two sets of towels and robes, one of which was for the pool. There were even two different colored washcloths, one for removing makeup and the other for dusting red clay off our shoes.
These somewhat strict “rules of engagement” for the inn-keeper’s convenience might seem an off-putting way to start to a vacation, but did we grumble and drive away in a huff?
Not at all! We can’t wait to go back.
But let me ask you this…do you have strict “rules of engagement” for your voice over business? A way you do things for your personal convenience?
Or are you working weekends, holidays and all hours of the night, afraid you’ll lose a customer if you don’t?
I believe this is a big “voice over mistake.” Watch this week’s training video and find out why.
